How dose Light Sheer Laser Hair Removal work?
Our Light Sheer hair removal system is a non-invasive laser specifically designed to eliminate undesired hair from all parts of the body. The Light Sheer system generates intense long-pulsed light through an actively-cooled hand piece to effectively disable unwanted pigmented hair follicles, thus impairing their growth. The laser's cold hand piece is placed gently on the skin, as pulses of light are delivered from the laser. When the light penetrates the skin, it selectively damages the root of the unwanted hair.
With the "cool tip" hand piece and the Light Sheer ET process we can gently treat hair while maintaining a healthy, normal appearance of the surrounding tissue.
LightSheer HS employs fully integrated vacuum assist technology to gently lift skin into the treatment aperture prior to applying laser energy. With this approach, the targeted tissue is gently stretched and thinned, minimizing competing chromophores by blanching vessels and spreading skin pigmentation over a larger area, in addition to pulling the hair follicle closer to the skin's surface. The cumulative result is that energy is delivered more efficiently to achieve excellent clinical results with speed and comfort. What are LightSheer treatments like?
Light Sheer's cold hand piece greatly reduces any discomfort during treatment. When the pulse of light is delivered some patients experience a mild sting or pinch similar to the snap of a rubber band. No local anesthesia or pain medication is required.

Does skin color make a difference?
The LightSheer Duet safely and effectively treats all skin types  as well as tanned skin. With Light Sheer Duet's unique design we have the flexibility to provide a customized treatment. Patients with fair skin respond the best. Suntanned patients or those with darker pigmentation may require more treatments to avoid damaging skin. The lighter the skin the higher we can set the laser. It is best to wear a sun screen and avoid the sun prior to treatments.
 
How many treatments are required?
The number of treatments you may require for optimal long-term benefits depends on the area you wish to have treated, the hair density and your hair's growth cycle. Your hair grows in cycles and many factors influence its growth. Age, ethnicity, weight, hormones, diet, medication and metabolism all play a part in your hair's location, thickness and resilience. Average for light skinned clients is 4 to 6 treatments every 5 weeks.

Are the Results Permanent?
The LightSheer laser has been cleared by the FDA for hair removal and permanent hair reduction on all skin types and tanned skin. To achieve a satisfactory level of clearance, 4-6 treatments are typically required.

Are there any side effects?
Short term side effects may include slight reddening of the skin or local swelling which typically lasts less than an hour, although rarely may last a few days. In very rare instances there may be some blistering.

How do LightSheer treatments compare with electrolysis?
Electrolysis is a tedious, invasive and painful process that involves inserting a needle into each hair follicle and delivering an electrical charge to destroy them one at a time. Electrolysis often requires years of treatments at regular intervals. Light Sheer delivers light energy non-invasively to hundreds of hair follicles simultaneously. So, in a few minutes, Light Sheer can effectively treat an area that would take over an hour with electrolysis.
