Skin Tightening : Thermage, Titan, Refirm, E - max Polaris

Skin Tightening : Thermage, Titan, Refirm, E - max Polaris

Deep : Thermage
What is the Thermage procedure?
Thermage is a non-invasive treatment that uses a device to deliver radiofrequency (RF) energy into the deeper layers of skin, which causes a heating action that immediately tightens skin tissue and structures. The Thermage® procedure reduces the signs of aging skin, giving you a more youthful appearance.

How does it work?
The top layers of your skin are protected with a cooling spray while radio-frequency energy heats the collagen in the lower layers. This heating action causes deep structures of your skin to tighten immediately. Over time, new collagen grows to further tighten your skin and produce a more youthful appearance.

What does the Thermage® procedure feel like?
With each touch of the Thermage® treatment tip, you will experience a brief intense heating sensation as the collagen in deep layers of your skin is tightened. To protect your skin and the make the treatment more comfortable, a cooling spray is delivered before, during, and after each application of the treatment tip. Additionally, as part of pretreatment, an anesthetic cream is usually applied to further enhance your comfort.

How long does it take?
The Thermage® procedure can take anywhere from a few minutes to an hour, depending on the size of the area you are having treated. Additional time may be required for skin preparation prior to the procedure.

When will I see results?
In most patients, results appear gradually in two to six months, although some patients see an earlier response.

How long will the effects of the Thermage procedure last?
Recently published studies show that improvements continue for at least six months after a single treatment session. Other studies show that thermal collagen changes can last several years, depending on the rate of the aging process.

How many treatments will I need?
A single treatment has produced good results in a significant number of patients. However, your doctor will assess the number and frequency of treatments required to achieve optimal results for your skin.

How long before I can return to my normal activities?
Most people return to their regular activities immediately following the Thermage® procedure. Some people experience mild redness (like a sunburn), but it usually disappears quickly. There is no special care needed after treatment, but sun screen is recommended as a part of good skin care.

Is it safe?
The Thermage® procedure is very safe. Although it is possible that skin damage can occur, this advanced treatment has been studied carefully in hundreds of patients with minimal reports of lasting adverse events.

What are the side effects and complications?
To date, reported incidence of side effects is less than 1%. Some of the more common side effects and complications include:

swelling and redness
risk of burn, blistering and scarring
tingling and/or burning sensation for a few days after treatment
soreness, particularly around the jawline

A more serious complication is the formation of dents in the skin (rare). This is attributed to overheating of tissue causing fat atrophy or excessive tightening. Adhering to treatment guidelines and responding to patient feedback throughout the procedure may prevent this.

Who is suitable for Thermage?
Although Thermage has been touted as a “non-surgical face lift”, it is not a substitute for a facelift. Thermage is able to provide some of the improvements that cosmetic facial surgery gives to people but in a portion of people no improvements will be seen after Thermage. Thermage is best performed during the early signs of aging such as:

early jowling

loosening skin

wrinkling around the mouth

People with very loose skin, sagging jowls and a turkey gobbler may see little improvement after Thermage are better suited for cosmetic surgery. If surgery is not an option, then Thermage may provide some improvements but expectations need to be managed.

Thermage works well on people with all skin types, unlike laser treatments that can cause permanent loss or variable pigmentation in darker skinned individuals.

Mid : Titan, Refirm

What is Titan?
Titan is the first tailored infrared light source for sustained deep dermal heating with the most frequent use on the face, submental area, and neck . Titan is the non-surgical light-based system approved by the FDA for the safe treatment of lax skin of the face and neck. Completely non-invasive, non-surgical and with zero downtime, the Titan stimulates collagen into a long-term rebuilding process, leaving patients with tighter, younger-looking skin Now you can experience this beauty breakthrough without the expense, risk and pain associated with traditional facelifts.

 Advantages of Titan

  • Treats Lax Skin
  • Reduces Wrinkles
  • Long Term Collagen Growth
  • No Recovery Time
  • Deep dermal heating with new collagen formation over time
  • Precise placement of heat in the dermis with continuous epidermal cooling
  • Minimal discomfort during treatment
  • Can be used on all skin types including tanned skin

How does the Titan Work?
Titan utilizes a safe, infrared light to heat the dermis well below the skin’s surface. This heating can cause immediate collagen contraction. During the procedure, the skin’s surface (epidermis) is protected through continuous cooling with the Titan hand piece. After the procedure, new collagen growth results in further tightening and the development of a more youthful complexion with less lines, folds or looseness of the skin.

Does the Titan procedure hurt?
After an initial evaluation of the health of the skin and the underlying collagen, a thin layer of water gel is gently spread on the area to be treated to facilitate the movement of the treatment head. The area is treated in dime-sized segments. When the treatment head is applied, the patient feels an initial cooling and a short heating cycle followed by a cooling phase. Each cycle lasts approximately six seconds and multiple passes are typically used. Some patients are more comfortable taking a mild pain reliever before hand. Many patients are comfortable without anything.

How long does the Titan procedure take?
Procedure times depending on the size of the area being treated .The brow, lower face, and neck can usually be treated in an hour .

What areas respond best to the Titan procedure?
Patients have been successfully treated on many areas of the body where skin is lax. Loose skin on the face , along the jaw line and under the chin have responded particularly well to the procedure.

Who can be treated?
Since the titan procedure is heating tissue under the skin’s surface, patients of any skin type can be treated. Men and women of all ages have been successfully treated.

How many treatments will I need?
A single treatment has produced very good results for some patients; however, it is best to assume that four to five treatments will produce the results you desire.

Will there be any swelling or redness?
Immediately following the treatment, you may notice some redness and mild swelling in the treated area. Both should dissipate within a few hours.

How soon will I see results from my Titan procedure?
Some patients see results immediately. However, for most patients , the results begin to be apparent by the conclusion of the treatment and continue to build over the next 12 weeks. Depending upon the individual patient, best results are sometimes obtained when the procedure is repeated in 4-12 weeks. Skin tightening has been shown to last up to 6-12 months.

Superficial : E - max Polaris

What is Emax Polaris?
Emax Polaris is a combine RF and Diode Laser for rapid reduction of fine lines and wrinkles with no downtime.

How does it work?
Emax Polaris uses a unique combination of radio frequency and Diode Laser to stimulate collagen formation. The energy is applied to the surface of the skin using a comfortable treatment tip about the size of a postage stamp.

Polaris can also improve enlarged pores, superficial acne scars, rough skin, and laxity of the face and neck.

What does the treatment feel like?
A computer-controlled mechanism cools and protects the skin's surface skin as the treatment tip pulses the RF and laser energy deeper into the skin. The pulses feel like a heat pulse or snapping sensation. The hand piece is cooled for skin protection and comfort. A separate skin-chilling device is often used for increased comfort. No bandages or aftercare is required. Each treatment takes approximately 30-60 minutes.

What areas can be treated?
The entire face and neck may be treated at once or the area may be divided into thirds. For example, the upper third of the face (the forehead and lower eyelids) is a commonly treated treatment area for patients wishing to tighten the skin of the lower lid, soften crow's feet and lift the brow.

When will I see results?
Three to five treatments are typically needed for maximum results. Improvement may not be fully evident for up to six months following the last treatment.

How do patients look & feel after treatment?
Patients usually look and feel well enough to resume normal activities within 24 hours after treatment. There is no pain following treatment. Minor swelling, redness and/or a mild tingling sensation may occur for a few hours.

Can other treatments be combined with Polaris?
Polaris patients may benefit from a variety of innovative treatment combinations, including IPL and Botox.

Is the Emax Polaris Saft?
FDA-approved procedure that uses Elos technology (Emax Polaris) to offer safe.
