Laser for Excessive Sweating

O-Laser
Axillary osmidrosis and hyperhidrosis are distressing social problems, particularly in Asian societies. They caused by excessive secretion of apocrine and eccrine glands, which cause a malodor and excessive sweating. Topical astringents are temporary and inadequate.

To remove the apocrine glands, various types of treatment methods for axillary osmidrosis have been introduced. They could be summarized as manual of instrumental subdermal shaving, ultrasonic assisted liposuction, Botox(R) injection, electrical probe, etc. Surgical removal of apocrine glands has been the favored treatment for the several decades, but such complications as long-term postoperative immobilization period, skin necrosis, hematoma, and visible scars have been frequent.

The new subcutaneous laser or O-laser is used to treat axillary osmidrosis and hyperhydrosis.. As a mini-invasive operation, laser is conducted by the optical fiber into the subcutaneous layer to destroy the apocrine and eccrine glands directly, which can avoid leaving obvious incision scar or numerous laser marks.

O-laser can be performed as an outpatient procedure with localized anesthesia, thus affording patients’ minimal downtime. Patients can return to work immediately after the procedure. Treatment of axillary osmidrosis and hyperhydrosis with O-laser can effectively reduce about 50-70%.
